Chiremera Album
Jah Prayzah officially launched his 12th album Chiremerera at the Old Hararians Sports Club, which celebrated cultural diversity through impressive performances and collaborations. The album’s name, meaning “dignity,” was reinforced by having Jah Prayzah’s mother announce it, incorporating the Shona tradition of elders presiding over important ceremonies. Highlights included exceptional traditional dancers from Rwanda, local cultural troupes, and collaborator Feli Nandi joining Jah Prayzah for their duet “Sarungano.” The event showcased the artist’s commitment to promoting his Zimbabwean heritage while investing substantially in production values.
The culturally immersive album launch aligned with Zimbabwe’s Culture Month celebration under the theme “Promoting Cultural Diversity, Unity and Peace.” According to attendees, Jah Prayzah’s ability to blend ancient mbira rhythms with contemporary Afropop resonated deeply, even if some audience members needed more time to fully appreciate the new folk-inspired tracks. By spotlighting traditions from across the region, Chiremerera lived up to its name as an expression of the proud cultural diversity within Jah Prayzah’s artistry.
“Chiremerera is music as an explosive yet healing expression of humanity that touches all cultures. Jah Prayzah channels Zimbabwe’s traditions into universal anthems everyone can vibe to.”
